Autour d’elle, les morts se succèdent, les enfants grandissent, la maison se transforme au fil de travaux sans fin. Sueli reste.

In a brick house at the heart of a Rio favela, Sueli yells, scolds, consoles. Matriarch of a noisy clan, she watches over her children and grandchildren, unfazed by the gunfire bursts that set the pace of daily life. Around her, sudden deaths multiply, the children grow up, and the house keeps changing, shaped by never-ending repairs. Still, Sueli holds her ground.

À Bourogne, petite ville grise menacée par les inondations, Damien vit reclus dans sa maison qu’il ne peut vendre, piégé par une administration kafkaïenne. Il s’est mis à tricoter compulsivement, recouvrant son intérieur de laine et refusant de retirer son poncho sa et cagoule. Inquiets, ses amis Zorro, Jonas et Sam s’incrustent chez lui. Peu à peu, le tricot partagé devient un prétexte pour renouer, parler, réparer. Jusqu’à ce que Damien évoque, pour la première fois, l’idée de partir.

In Bourogne, a drab little town threatened by flooding, Damien has shut himself away in his house, unable to sell it due to Kafkaesque red tape. He’s taken to obsessive knitting, covering his interior in wool and refusing to take off his ponchos and balaclavas. Worried, his friends Zorro, Jonas, and Sam move in uninvited. Gradually, knitting becomes a pretext for reconnecting, talking, and healing. Until one day, Damien quietly admits he might want to leave.

Grâce à un travail d’archives, le film tisse l’idée d’un continuum qui relie la violence sexiste à la violence totale d’un État en guerre.

WARRIORS’ WHISPERis a story of feminist friendship forged by the experience of war and the fight against gender-based violence. While conflicts raged in the former Yugoslavia, the region’s feminists were the only ones able to communicate across the borders of a fragmenting territory. Using archive footage, the film weaves together the idea of a continuum linking gender-based violence to the total violence of a state at war.

Sous une canicule écrasante et alors que d’étranges perturbations magnétiques troublent l’atmosphère, Mily, 13 ans, cherche à comprendre pourquoi leur mère les a embarqués en catastrophe, elle et son frère, loin de leur père, dans son village natal en Italie. Dans ce paysage ravagé par la désindustrialisation, elle tente de s’adapter à son corps qui change et au regard nouveau que les autres posent sur elle. En colère contre sa mère, et malgré l’opposition de son frère ainé, elle alerte leur père qui débarque par surprise. Un climat oppressant s’installe, mais Mily, fascinée par le charisme et l’autorité de son père prend son parti. Pourtant, grâce à Ester, son amie d’enfance, Mily découvre peu à peu que la vulnérabilité n’est pas synonyme de soumission.

During a stifling heatwave and amid strange magnetic disturbances, 13-year-old Mily tries to understand why their mother suddenly took her and her brother away from their father, back to her native village in Italy. In a landscape marked by deindustrialization, Mily struggles with the changes in her body and the new way others look at her. Frustrated with her mother, and despite her older brother’s objections, she contacts their father, who turns up unexpectedly. A tense atmosphere takes hold, and Mily, drawn to her father’s charisma and authority, sides with him. But through Ester, her childhood friend, she gradually learns that vulnerability does not mean weakness.

Depuis la création de l’État d’Israël et la mise en place de son parlement, la Knesset, des législateurs arabes siègent aux côtés des législateurs juifs. Bien que les citoyens palestiniens d’Israël constituent 20% de la population, les députés arabes n’ont jamais guère représenté plus de 10% de l’organe législatif ; entre autres raisons, parce qu’être un membre non-juif du parlement dans un Etat Juif est une tâche ingrate.

Since Israel was established and its parliament — The Knesset — first convened, Arab lawmakers have served alongside Jewish ones. Were we to listen to a collection of 3-minute speeches, curated from thousands delivered by these Arab lawmakers from 1948 until today — like a relay race across the generations and against the political odds — what would we hear? A hungry appeal for a rightful place at the table, rather than the carrot, the stick, and the civil rights crumbs begrudgingly swept off of it.
